Obituary

In Loving Memory of Willie L. Nelson Sr. Willie L. Nelson Sr. was born on October 10, 1947, in Utica, New York, to the late Reverend Sim Nelson Jr. and the late Willie Mae Robertson Nelson. At an early age, Willie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and devotion.

Willie departed this earthly life on September 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and cherished memories. Wille is a graduate of 1966, Lake Shore High School, Belle, Glade Florida.

Willie proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1975. After his military service, he continued to serve others as a driver for Greyhound Bus and other transportation services. Through his years of work, Willie met many people and touched countless lives.

One of the things Willie loved most was singing. Wherever he attended church, he could often be found lifting his voice in song. His love for gospel music was a beautiful expression of his faith. Among his favorite songs was "There's a Leak in This Old Building," a song that held special meaning to him.

Willie was a devoted father and will forever be cherished by his children: Lotrina Green Johnson, South Bay, FL; Waquita LaShae Nelson Pearson (Alaric) Jacksonville, FL; Brodrick Nelson (Sophia) Jacksonville, FL; Willie Lee Nelson Jr. South Bay, FL; William Andrew Nelson (Dubbie) Orlando, FL; and Wesley L. Nelson; Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Sister Mary Jones-Turner, Chesapeake, Virginia: Sister-in-law Fallie M. Nelson; Pahokee, FL; Great Uncle: Rev. Plezy Lee Nelson: Americus, GA; special nieces Dr. Glenda Nelson-Garrett; Alfreda Nelson-Miles; and Quintillria Maye: West Palm Beach;, FL, Favorite Cousin; Willie Pearl Fuse, Atlanta, FL.

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by six brothers: Leroy Nelson, James Nelson, Rev. Levi Nelson, Rev. Sim Nelson III, Eddie Nelson, and Walter Nelson; and sister, Jannie L. Nelson-Wright.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many others whose lives he touched throughout his journey.

Willie's life was a testimony to faith, perseverance, service, and love. His dedication to his faith, his love of singing, his years of military and professional service, and the memories he created with family and friends will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Although he is no longer with us in body, his memory, his voice, and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Willie has completed his earthly journey and now rests in the presence of the Lord.
