Yvonne Jones Thomas was born the fifth child to the late Willie and Lillie Jones on April 28, 1936 in Lumberton, Mississippi. Yvonne went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2016, with her family by her side in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was married to the late Henry Thomas. She was employed at Glades General Hospital and University of Florida Agriculture where she served dutifully until retiring.

Sister Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion A.M. E. and then became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Leon Camel and Reverend Lionel F. Camel where she served. She served in the choir. She touched many lives at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and in the community in which she lived. There was never a time when her home wasn't open to those needing love or just an ear to listen.

Yvonne has nine children, preceded in death by two of her sons, Kenneth Jones and John Yarns. And survived by her other seven children, Olivia Reese, Melvin Thomas, Bruce Thomas, Jacqueline Thomas and Brenda Thomas all of Belle Glade, Florida and Darnell Thomas and Stephon Thomas of Pahokee, Florida. God-Children: Errica Hearns, Kelvin Green, Pearlie Hill, Jackie Crawford, Sandy Kendall and Ja'Stevia Gordon.

She was the fifth of her siblings includes: Eula Collins (deceased), Roosevelt Jones (Carolyn), Evelyn Bolden (deceased), Nathaniel Jones, William Jones (deceased), Laura Odums all of Belle Glade, Florida; Dorothy Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Juanita McGriff and , Mary Harrell of South Bay, Florida, and Anthony Jones (Teresa) of Pahokee, Florida.

Her grandchildren: Marvin Jones, Anjeanette Gilbert, Quentilla Gilbert, Zacari Butts (Victor), Gerkeria Thomas, Shamekia Thomas, Quentella Wallace, Anthony Wallace, Joe-Louis Thomas, Antionette Kirkland (Lester), Anthony Campbell, Bruce Thomas Jr., Dominique Donaldson, Brushiria Thomas, BruShunda Thomas, Dynisha Thomas, Kenya Whittaker (Kay) Jerry Jones, Bianca Wilson (Brandon), Stephanie Thomas, Stephonda Thomas, Stephondra Thomas, Stephondria Thomas, Sharviar Thomas, and Stephon Thomas Jr.; Special Great-grands: Azjiah Graham and Victor Butts Jr.; Extended grandchildren: Geoffrey James, Carlita Hessing, Brittney West, Les'Unique Hessing, Teressa Osborne, Carleisha Lewis, JaCarla Humphries, Jonique Bennett, Johnny Bennett, Eric Hearns, Erin Herans, Corey Graham and Wes Barnett.

Yvonne also leaves to cherish great-grands, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
