Wilbert Matthews aka "Braces" was in born Spanish-town Saint Catherine, Jamaica to the late Mr. Lester Fernandez Matthews and Delrita Taylor-Matthews on April 7th, 1955. He migrated to the United States in 1979 where he worked as a farm worker.

He leaves fond memories to cherish with his four children, Camille Matthews, Brandon Matthews (Cyna Matthews), Treavous Matthews and Shantae Matthews. 13 grandchildren, Raven Garvin, Tra'Nyiah Matthews, Treasure Matthews, Trinity Matthews, Trust Matthews, Taliyah Pearson, Cyniah Matthews, Braylon Matthews and Brae'ya Matthews, Michael Greenwood, Edward Bain Jr., Jordan Bain, Cameron Bain and Serenity Bain. One special son, Edward Bain (April Bain). 12 brothers: Lindsay Matthews (Doreen Matthews), Desmond Matthews (Lemriel Matthews), Silvado Matthews (Lelith Matthews), Byron Matthews (Crystal Matthews), Barry Matthews (Sophia Matthews), Girvan Matthews (Angine Matthews), Fern Matthews (Marcia Matthews), Glenford Wellington, Derrick Williams, Devon Williams, Danny Williams and Donovon Williliams. 6 sisters: Mary Campbell, Merle Lewis (James Lewis), Lerline Hilton (Nevelle Hilton), Barbara Walker (Noel Walker), Madge Miller, Felecia Marks (Oshane Marks).
