Velma Louise Jones Brown was born to the late Novella Roberts and Willis Jones Sr. on August 21, 1944. She was married to Berthell Brown Jr. who preceded her in death.

She was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, but often attended New St. Stephen AME Church of Okeechobee, Florida.

Velma was loved by many and she was a lover of hats. She could always be seen wearing hats. God saw that flower he planted in 1944 was losing its fragrance and he plucked the flower and called her home on November 25, 2017. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Lynell Safo Allen and Alma Houze.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter: Patricia Williams (Atlanta, GA); one son: Vince Neal (Okeechobee, FL); two grandsons: Jarrod Neal (Okeechobee, FL), Jarael Gilmore (Tampa, FL); three granddaughters: Latesha and Latasia Neal (Okeechobee, FL), KaKenya Williams (Atlanta, GA); three great grandchildren; one brother: Willis Jones Jr. (Ft. Lauderdale, FL); two sisters: Shirley (Herbert) Roy (Okeechobee, FL), Peggy Ann Johnson (Okeechobee, FL); two sister-in-laws; Mary and Glory Jean Talyor (Blakely, GA) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
