Obituary

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest......Matthew 11:28

My life, begin on March 19, 1949 at Glades General Hospital in Belle Glade, Florida.  I was born to Maggie Patrick-Adams and James Rolle.

My Education: I attended the Public School System: Rosenwald Elementary, Lake Shore Jr-Sr High School. I received my high school Diploma from Oxford. Later, I enrolled at Palm Beach Jr College in Belle Glade. However, I continue in the educational arena obtaining varies skills and trainings at several institutions.

I, Barbara Ann Green, lifted my wings like a dove on August 4, 2022, at Lakeside Medical Center and  flew away to be at rest with the Lord at 9:49 pm.

Now, I have joined the Broken Chain that preceded me: Husband: James Green, Jr; Parents: Maggie Adams, Eddie Lee Adams, James Rolle; Siblings: Earlene Mann, Eddie Patrick, Jr, Johnny Patrick, Garry Patrick, Gloria Patrick, Thomas Adams; Aunts: Elouise Jones; Niece: Cynthia Mann; Cousin: Glenda Anderson.

My Christian Walk: At an early age, I was introduced to Christ by Aunt Elouise, who believed in worshiping Christ, daily. My Christian walk begin at New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.  Upon becoming an adult, I transitioned my membership to the First Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop Willie Wisper until his demise. Still having a strong desire for Holiness, I joined The Church without Walls, under the leadership of the late Pastor Maurice Cromer. My final walk was under the leadership of Pastor Albert Polk, IV at Miracle By Faith Revival Center. On this Christian walk I could not hold a tune, but I made a loud noise with a few of my favorite songs: "We Shall Have a Grand Time;" "When This War Is Over;" "I Don't Know What You Came to Do;" and "Walk Around Heaven."

My Work Experience and Employment:  Hard work was driven into me at an early age. Starting as a migrant worker in the fields traveling  in and out of state. Then, I decided to advance myself employment, opening the first Children Home Society in the Glades area as a Family Resource person. From there I was employed with Lutheran Service Florida Peppi Head Start as a Social Worker for Family Resources for more than 22 years. Which was my last full-time job until retirement. Well, I did not stay in retirement long, 2014, I became a Foster Grandparent until my health failed.

My Community Service: For years I volunteered servicing others. I fed the hungry not just food, but the Word of God, walking the streets spreading the Gospel. During COVID-19, I volunteered distributing food in the City of South Bay and at Glorious Community Holiness Church in Belle Glade. As a citizen of South Bay, I supported the Census 2020 initiative, Voter's Registration Drive, and diligently walked the streets door to door supporting the "2020" election. Extended services were provided to We Help Community Development.
