Rufus Harris was born in Dawson GA to the late Eugene and Allie Mae Harris on February 24, 1949 (we know it as February 27, 1947). He went to school at Rosenwald Elementary and Glades Central High. He was married Lenora Ford Harris, on December 24, 1978, they just celebrated 44 years this year. He worked as a Construction Manager of Sabal Palm Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale for 6 years, as Union Representative helping those who needed finding gainful employment, before starting his career as a Truck Driver for Okeelanta Sugar Mill where he retired from in 2004.

Rufus is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Allie Mae Harris, son, Antonitus Harris Sr, sisters, Ola Lee, Lucille Clark, Jewel Russ, Gloria Jean Harris, Ruby Jean Mitchell, brothers, Ethan Harris, Will Harris, Darren Harris, and Johnny Harris.


Rufus is survived by his wife Lenora Harris, Children, Ceela Harris-Green, (James), Shermeka Harris, Simara Peals,  bonus daughter Samantha Thomas, Brother Earl Harris (Arlet) West Palm Beach, Sisters, Evangelist Ida Pearl Mann, Jacqueline Harris both of South Bay Florida, Deaconess Gail Jenkins (David) Sarasota Florida, Charlotte Harris South Bay Florida, Grandchildren, , Samara Young,  Lenoria Spence, Patience Spence, Patrick Spence Jr., Ozzie Charles Jr., O'zaria Charles, Cyrus Green, Jamese Green, Anqunette Harris, Raymond Posey, Raymando Posey, Nateria Jones, Sha'kecia Moreland, Antonitus Harris, Nathaniel Jones, Elicia Crawford, Efrem Crawford Jr, Lasharee Harris, Antavia Harris, Antonius Harris, Jaharis Banks, Alvin Warren Jr., Jomorie Simmons, Cornelius Barber Jr., and 26 great-Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
