Obituary

Ricky Harvey
July 16, 1960 - March 19, 2026

Ricky Harvey, a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

He was born on July 16, 1960, in Moultrie, Georgia, to Martha Harvey and the late Oscar Harvey Jr. At a young age, Ricky moved with his family to Belle Glade, Florida, where he was raised in the Okeechobee Center Projects—a place that helped shape the man so many came to know and love.

Ricky was a proud graduate of Glades Central Community High School, Class of 1978. Known far and wide throughout Belle Glade, South Bay, Canal Point, Lake Harbour, and Pahokee, he built a life rooted in hard work and dedication. For over 20 years, he faithfully worked in the sugar industry, operating heavy equipment for the Sugar Corporation and Okeelanta Sugar Mill.

Ricky will always be remembered for his selfless heart and his unforgettable personality. With his "slick mouth" and quick wit, he had a special way of making people laugh, lifting spirits, and bringing joy into every room he entered. He gave freely of himself, never expecting anything in return, and held a deep love for his community—especially South Bay.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Harvey Jr., and his siblings, Russell Harvey and Cynthia Harvey.

Ricky leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. He is survived by his daughter, Rickena Harvey Brown (Vincent, Jr.); his grandsons, Jamarri Brown and Jacory Brown; his bonus granddaughter, Shamya Brown; he also leaves his great-granddaughter, Malia Garrett. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Martha Harvey, and Ricky's five sisters: Pamela Harvey-Bethea (Willie-Lee), Jacquelyn Hooper, Sonyette Harvey-Barber, Sheila Harvey-Lawrence, and Lachante Harvey, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will cherish his memory forever.
