Monica D.
Westcarth
Mar 28, 1941 — May 24, 2024
Belle Glade
Monica Deloris Westcarth was born on March 28, 1941, in Cascade, St. Mary, Jamaica. The eighth of nine children to Leonard and Minna Rodney, she grew up in a large and loving family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Monica passed away on May 24, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with illness, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion cherished by her family.
In 1961, Monica met Vincent Westcarth from the neighboring district of Labyrinth, the love of her life. Their union was blessed with eight children: Edith Carty (Denzil), Ericka Lacker (Eairton), Martin Westcarth (Tracey), Loma Russell (Devon), Lorna Westcarth (Benjamin), Laurel Westcarth, Elsa Westcarth, and stepson Aston Westcarth. Monica was a devoted wife and mother, nurturing her children with values of kindness, compassion, and hard work. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In 1984, Monica migrated to Belle Glade, Florida, to join her husband, Vincent. The following year, she returned to Jamaica to reunite with her children, and the family settled in Belle Glade. She fostered a spirit of friendship and neighborliness, embracing the American dream. Monica's children excelled in their endeavors, becoming productive citizens, much to her pride and joy.
Known for her generosity, warm hospitality, and unwavering support, Monica's kindness and compassion touched many lives. She was a constant presence at family gatherings, always ready with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a sense of humor. Her solution to any problem was, "Mi have seven pickney," reflecting her profound love and reliance on her children.
In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Monica is survived by her brother Rupert Rodney (England) and sister Alma Buckland (Canada), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and a large extended family and many dear friends.
Monica Deloris Westcarth's love, and legacy will never be forgotten. Her warmth and generosity will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Mother.
