Melvin Dennis was born on May 26, 1940 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Nora Bell Burgess and Eugene Dennis.

He was raised in Moultrie, Georgia where he received his education and graduated. Later on in life Melvin relocated to Clewiston, Florida.

Melvin accepted Christ into his life and attended New Hope Deliverance Church under the leadership of Pastor James Bigham. He served as a Deacon. Melvin was a loving father who loved his family. Because of his love for people, he never met a stranger and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Melvin worked at US Sugar for many years, In 1985 he changed his employment to Hillard Brothers until retiring in 2010. He loved working in the church, and spending time at the race track. Melvin was loved by many and he will be greatly missed.

He leaves precious memories to his children and extended members of the family. He cherished his 7 daughters: Sharhonda Horne (Anthony), Maeline Bradford (Paul) of Clewiston, FL, Sherry Reid (Glen) of Killeen, TX, Mary Lee Dennis, Geneva Dennis, Janice Dennis all of Avon Park, FL, Deloris Howard (Charles) of Brunswick, GA, and one son Melvin Dennis Jr. of Avon Park, FL; on stepson: Anthony Sealy of North Carolina; Brothers: Eugene Dennis of Arizona, Frank Dennis of Camilla, GA and the late Jimmy C. Dennis; his one sister: Orabell Bridges of Moultrie, GA; he also leaves memories with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
