And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. So was it in the life of our beloved Mary E. Butts.

Mary Elizabeth Burley Butts was born June 16, 1927, in Wrens, Georgia to the late Charles and Minner Burley.  She was educated in the public school system.

Mary was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Leslie D. Camel. She enjoyed attending church, fishing, shopping, and being the candy lady in the project (Okeechobee Center).

On March 7, 2025, Mary entered eternal life. She is preceded in death by her parents and her children: Ray Charles, Annie M. Johnson, Gregory McKinzie, Shirley Jackson, Patricia McCover, Esther Butts, Minnie J. Segers, Lizzie Moore, and Calvin Jackson.

She leaves behind her beautiful daughters: Delores Butts, Barbara Stone, Alvetta Butts, Darlene (Elbert) Washington, Betty J. Hill; son: Louis (Sharell) Jackson, Paul Jackson, William Jackson; Mary's sisters: Barbara Sapp, Louise Burley, Francis Sapp; brother: Charles Burley; beloved grandson: Louis "Man-Man" Baker. Mary also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grands, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
