On February 6, 1943 a baby girl was born to Eugene Solomon and Essie Lee Wallace Solomon in the greater state of Plain, Georgia. That's when Thelma Solomon life began. She was the youngest of four children.
Thelma received her education at Stately High School in Americus, Georgia. Later in life she married the late Arthur James Slater. Arthur James and Thelma were blessed with a handsome baby boy, Arthur James Slater, Jr. (deceased). After relocating to Florida she pursued a career as a Nurse Assistant.
On November 28, 1988 Thelma was joined together in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Bertel Williams. Her late Pastor, Reverend Leon Camel, married her.
Thelma joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Beasley, Reverend McGhee, Reverend Leon Camel and presently Reverend Lionel F. Camel. She served as an Usher for 50 years. Thelma was also a member of the Mission Board, a
Sunday
School Teacher, and an Usher Director. She was a faithful and loyal member.
Thelma departed this life on April 17, 2017.
Thelma leaves to mourn a loving husband, Bertel Williams of Belle Glade, FL; one sister: Annie M. Edwards of Plains, GA; one brother: Curtis Solomon Sr. (Bernice Brown) of Americus, GA; a daughter- in-law: Rose Slater; one grandson: Demorrius Thomas; five sister-in-laws: Beverly Seymore, Valarie Ownes, Dorat Walker, Murine Uwit, Jeff Williams; step-sons: Basil Williams, Ron Williams, Leon Williams; one brother-in-law: Luis George Edwards; 34 nephews; 27 nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
Special People in her life; Mrs. Vollics Butts (deceased), Dorothy Hanson, Earline Simmons, The Butts Family and The Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Family.
