Reflection of Life…..
Mae Retha Thorpe Brown was the second child of the late Willie and Mollie Mae Battle, birthplace of Haleburg, Alabama on September 29, 1938. She is survived by two sisters, Minister Everlena Robinson (Minister Lewis Robinson; husband), who currently lives in Clewiston, Florida, Lizzie Mae Butler who lives in Tampa, Florida and Willie Pearl Redd (deceased) who is survived by her husband Oliver Redd. She also had two brothers, Homer Lee Battle and Jean Battle who are both deceased.
Mae Retha Thorpe Brown attended and graduated from Clewiston High School. After earning her G.E.D she went on to receive her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate.
She didn't have any choice as a child on Sundays and had to attend church. As a child, she was under the leadership of O.D. Williams, Reverend L.H. King, Reverend James W. White, and for the last 25 years, she devoted her heart to Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, under Reverend McNealy's Leadership.
Mae Retha Thorpe Brown retired from Clewiston High School in 1990. She met the man of her life, Reverend Harold Brown and moved to Vero Beach Florida to build a life with him.
HER CHILDREN:
She was survived by her children, Sandra (Earl Blackwood) of West Palm Beach, Florida, Gwendolyn Thomas of California, Gerald Thomas of Belle Glade, Florida, Dennis Thorpe of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Frank Johnson of Nevada, California.
CARE-TAKERS:
She was also loved and cared for by Dr. Martin Harland, Dr. Chandra Venugopal, Special Nurse Kandice from Lakeside Quality in Pahokee Florida, Mrs. Rose Sneed, Mrs. Gloria Redd, Mr. Melvin Jones, Mr. Ronald Whitehall, Mr. Riley Lewis and Mrs. Janet Taylor who was always a phone call away, from Clewiston, Florida.
GRANDCHILDREN:
Mae Retha Thorpe Brown is survived by a host of many grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, god daughters and the Vaughn Family.
FOND MEMORIES:
Unforgettable moments I will always cherish, (Sandra Blackwood) working at Clewiston High School with my mother from November 1982 to March 2012, was one exhilarating experience that I will always hold close to my heart.
Mae Retha Thorpe Brown was loved by many more friends.
