Obituary

Lucille May Tucker was born in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies on March 17th, 1939.  She was born to Allen and Catherine Bradshaw and she was the eldest of eight children.

Lucille was drawn to God at a very early age, and she fervently served the Lord. As a teenager, she joined the Anglican Church in St. Ann Jamaica, wherein she traveled with the Church to spread the word of God.

Lucille married Cecil Tucker in 1959, and their union produced six children.  She emigrated to the United States in 1971, where she resided with her husband in Belle Glade, Florida. She continued her walk with God by joining St. John's First Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir for over 30 years.

Lucille had gifted hands and she immersed herself into a few hobbies. She had a love for baking, gardening, sewing, and crocheting.  She had an entrepreneurial mindset and she later turned some of those hobbies into a marketable business.

In her quest to make a better life for herself and her family she obtained a nursing license.  Until her retirement at the age of 68, Lucille would dedicate her life service to working in skilled nursing facilities, the maternity department of Pahokee Hospital, and to doing Private duty care throughout the Southern Florida area.  Her steadfast ambition and unrelenting drive would later become a blueprint for her children.

Lucille was a staunch advocate for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She showed them unconditional love both in her actions and her deeds. Her maternal role extended well beyond those of her immediate family.  She was empathetic to the needs of others. She always maintained an open door, and she didn't hesitate to extend a helping hand.

Lucille was  preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Cecil, and her son Roy Tucker; she leaves five surviving children; son: Maurice Tucker (South Carolina), daughter: Beverly Tucker (Florida), daughter: Earleen Tucker (Florida), daughter: Garcia Tucker-Graham (North Carolina), son : Alvin (Amber) Tucker (Maryland); three surviving siblings;  brother: Headley (Jennifer) Bradshaw (Atlanta),  sister: Dorothy Bradshaw (Fort Lauderdale); brother: David (Berretta) Bradshaw (Canada); 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
