Obituary

Loreen Angella Lawrence was born on August 18, 1955 in Kingston Jamaica to mother Agatha Thompson.  She was brought to Pusey District, St. Catherine where she was raised by her grandmother, Ms Joni aka Ma from the age of 1. Her mom migrated to the UK with her younger brother, Gordon Hunt, leaving behind her older brother Carl Whittaker, sister Beverley Whittaker and herself.

She attended Point Hill School referred to as "Bottom School". She blossomed into a beautiful young woman and drew the attention of Eric Lawrence in 1971 who later became her husband in 1979. They produced 2 lovely daughters Navadean and Fayona Lawrence and a smart, beautiful granddaughter Mikaela Sutherland was born.

Loreen was affectionately called Ms. Doreen or Sista Dor by most who knew her. She was jovial, conscientious, loving, kind, caring, eager to learn new things, excited to be in the company of young people, family oriented, and the list goes on. She touched the hearts of whom she came in touch with. She was a devoted child of God and loved her church families dearly. She was baptised in the Church of Jesus Christ in Roaring River, St. Catherine, Jamaica but later worshipped at the branch located at Elgin Road, Kingston, Jamaica after relocating to Portmore, St. Catherine.

During her earlier adulthood she earned a Fashion Designer Certification and sewed quite a number of uniforms for parents each year. She cared for children and families living at Worthy Park Estate and was later certified as a Childcare Giver. She continued to care for babies and pre-teens after relocating to Portmore.

Throughout her children's teen years and even adulthood in Jamaica and abroad, she inspired and touched their friends and co-workers through counsel, friendly chats and even exercise. She loved sharing whatever she had with others especially to the garbage collectors who always shouted "mammee weh yuh have deh!" and she would always have jerk chicken and bread or some rice with meat for them.

She was such a remarkable child of God who did her Christian duty without apology even up to her last day.
May her soul rest in eternal bliss.
