Leonard Gene West Sr. known to most as "Big Low" was born on January 06, 1960 in Panama City, Florida to the late Clifford and Lorraine West. He was the baby boy of six children.

Leonard "Big Low" was mostly raised in Panama City before moving to Belle Glade, Florida where he attended Glades Central Community High School and was a member of the basketball team. Big Low met the love of his life Gwendolyn; they married in December of 1984 ad raise four children. Big Low was a jack-of-all-trades and was a dedicated employment at Double D and Roth Farms until an on job accident rendered him disable in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his favorite grandmother Cliffie Carter, stepfather Yula Battle and oldest brother James West.

He leaves wonderful memories with his wife of 34 years Gwendolyn West of Belle Glade, FL. (3) Sons Leonard West Jr. of Belle Glade, FL, Marcus West (Shamekia) of Riviera Beach, FL and Jontavius West of Union City, NJ. A daughter Joquanda Thomas of West Palm Beach, FL. (10) Grandchildren Sy'Niyah and Zy'Asia West of West Palm Beach, FL, Ta'Norris Wilkerson, Diontae and Jaheim Shannon of West Palm Beach, FL, Marcus Jr and Marshawn West, Patrick and Patrease Flowers and Tradale Perkins of Riviera Beach, FL. A great-grandduaghter Ta'Onnie Wilkerson of West Palm Beach, FL. (2) Sisters Mary West of Virgina Beach VA and Olynthia West-Daley (Cleaton) of Daytona Beach, FL. (2) brothers Curtis West of Washington State and Derry West (Yvonne) of Port St. Lucie, FL. (3) aunts Ruby Lee Ellington of Cuthbert, GA, Laura Eleby of Morrisville, GA and Mary Ellington of Newark, NJ. An uncle James Murray.
