Belle Glade

Obituary

On a cool fall day in Portland, Jamaica, on September 21, 1939, a bouncy baby boy named Leon Issac Marshall entered the world and the loving lives of his parents, Isabel Cousins and James Marshall.

In the early 1990s, Leon left Jamaica and journeyed to America, where he settled in the town of Belle Glade, Florida. A hardworking and dedicated man, Leon was employed as a tree farmer at Carter's Tree Farm, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.

Leon loved playing dominoes and often enjoyed games with friends near 4th Street until his health declined, preventing him from joining the crew. Still, his love for dominoes continued as he played with neighbors in his living community of Quiet Waters, where he earned the nickname "Bone Crusher" for his impressive skill. Leon lived in the Quiet Waters community for over ten years and was well-loved by both neighbors and staff.

On January 19, 2026, Leon transitioned from this life into the presence of the Lord. Child of God, well done. The battle was well fought, and the victory was won. Enter into the Master's joy. A loving father, devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Leon now rests with his Savior.

Leon's memory will forever live in the hearts of his loved ones: his three children—daughter Peggy Marshall-Aiken; sons Peter Anthony Marshall and Peter Alphanso Marshall; bonus daughters Nicole Dunkley and Jessica Franklin; sisters Dorothy Marshall and Caroline West; brothers Norris Marshall, Fitzroy West, and Willherd Cousins; grandchildren Theresa Marshall, Jessica Marshall, Kashek Aiken, Tyrese Aiken, Ta'Janae Aiken, Lamont Marshall, and Laura Marshall; bonus grandchildren De'Mauri Blackmon, Vladimir Joseph Jr., and Vionni Joseph; great-grandchildren Jake and Roman;  bonus great-grandchildren De'Mauri Blackmon Jr. and Navi Blackmon. Leon also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, loving neighbors, and many other family members and friends.
