Leaford McFarlane, affectionately known as Mack and Jackson. Leaford was born on September 28, 1952, in the parish of St. Mary, Jamaica, to Mr. Alfred McFarlane and Mrs. Ivy Johnson McFarlane. He was the youngest of six (6) children. He received his early education at Trinity Primary School and Secondary Programs. He ventured into farming at an early age, as he joined the Jamaican Government Farm Work Program.In 1970, Leaford pursued an opportunity to work in the United States and was employed by the United States Sugar Corporation (U.S.S.C.). He became a dedicated and hardworking employee, contributing his time, skills, and commitment to the company for many years. His journey from Jamaica to the United States reflected his determination and perseverance to build a meaningful life for himself and his family. Leaford was also known for his love of music, entertainment, and bringing people together. Through his hard work and determination, he became the first person in Tremolesworth to own a sound system and television. He proudly hosted movie nights and small parties, creating opportunities for family and friends to enjoy themselves and make lasting memories. Leaford’s love for farming remained a meaningful part of his life. He enjoyed planting, watching things grow, and preparing delicious meals. His hands were often busy cultivating the land or creating something in the kitchen, and these simple joys reflected his appreciation for hard work, family, and the blessings of life.On July 4, 1998, Leaford was united in holy matrimony to Geraldine Jackson. Together they shared 28 years of marriage and built a life in love, faith, and family. During this union, he was blessed with three more children: Brenda, Steve, and Dwright. Their marriage was a testament of patience, love, and commitment, and the family they built together remains a lasting love.Leaford was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred McFarlane and Ivy Johnson-McFarlane; his son, Constantine McFarlane; one sister, Gwendolyn Martin; and two brothers, Leslie Johnson and Harold Jackson. Memories of Leaford McFarlane and his legacy will be cherished by his loving wife, Geraldine Jackson-McFarlane; children: Brenda Chavez (Joel) Belle Glade, FL, Steve Moore, West Palm Beach, FL; Dwright Jackson (Kelly), Gainesville, FL; Patrick McFarlane; Dwayne McFarlane; Lenroy McFarlane; Ricardo McFarlane of Pennsylvania; Aniff McFarlane; Marlene McFarlane; Marchelle McFarlane; Anique McFarlane; Iris McFarlane; and Monique McFarlane, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Two sisters: Pearlie McFarlane-Hunter, Brooklyn, New York, and Joycelyn McFarlane, Kingston, Jamaica. Twenty-six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
