Bishop Lawrence Canty journey began on February 10, 1934, when he became the youngest of six children to Simpson Canty and Emma Smith Canty in Georgetown, South Carolina.
Lawrence grew up schooled in a small community with his older siblings. His mother died giving birth to him. His older sister took responsibility to take care of him, but preceded him in death. They are Willie Canty (Thema Lee), Richard Canty, Daniel Canty, Cammie Canty Cain, Ann Canty Fleming, and Andraner Canty McPherson. He leaves Samuel Canty (Alma) of Miami, FL.
Bishop Lawrence Canty served in the United States Army for a very short term. He held occupations with various employments throughout his life span as a farmer, supervisor, manager, and truck driver. Lawrence's journey to Belle Glades and meet the beautiful Allene Shelton. They were joined in Holy Matrimony raising ten children; Those that preceded him in death are: Allene Canty (wife), Children: Mary Page, Brenda Walker, and James Bother.
He will be cherished by four daughters: Audrania Williams, Carmelia Canty (West Palm Beach), Angelina Canty (Belle Glade), Felicia Canty McInnis (Mike) (Port St. Lucie) Five sons: Willie Canty (Patricia), Timothy Canty (Shauner) all of Belle Glade, FL, Lester Canty (Jennette) (West Palm Beach), Sylvester Canty (Bayon) (Atlanta, GA), Todd Canty (Christine) (Port St. Lucie, FL). One brother: Samuel Canty (Alma) Miami, FL; God-daughter Ruth McKenzie; Special Son: Jacque Cilien; Grandchildren ; Great Grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
