The Life and Legacy of Sister Jessie Mae Pace

Jessie Mae Pace was born January 24, 2019 to John Henry and Ola Mae Olds in
Campbellton, FL. The family moved south to the Glades area when Jessie Mae
and her sibling were very young. She received her formal education in Belle Glade
when the school was located on the loading ramp.
As a young woman she married Mr. Cisroe Pace and to this union 5 children were
born.
She was employed by A. Duda and Sons for more than 20 years. She later joined
the staff at the Palm Beach County Health Department as a Senior
Aide/receptionist whose duties included copying and filing for more than 10
years.
Upon her retirement she continued to be active. She was community conscious and
supported activities of the AIDS Coalition of the Glades and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority
Annual Holiday Prayer Breakfast and scholarship activities and Jessie Mae became
a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Faison. She
served there for more than 60 years until her health failed. She was affectionately
known as Mother Pace by her church family.
She was a loving and dedicated mother. Family was always first. She took on the
responsibility of raising two of her grandchildren as her own; Phillip Pace and
Calvin Daniels, Jr. Her door was always open for all family members. The word
NO was not in her vocabulary when it came to showing love and kindness to family
and friends. Jessie Mae was a very positive and independent person. She instilled
in all of her children good work ethics. She taught them to set goals and achieve
them, which they all did. She's a woman of courage, strength and wisdom. The
beauty of wisdom was to understand life and the importance of family and friends.
Knowing you must be there in time of need for family and friends gave her the
strength to stand. Her final two years of life were spent at the Rehabilitation
Center of the Palm Beaches, where she met new friends and enjoyed the activities,
especially playing BINGO and coloring which became her favorite pastime. The
staff worked with her patiently and showed affection to her as if she was their own
family member. A special thank you goes to the Rehab of the Palm Beaches staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two sibling, A.C. Olds and
Johnnie Rene Ray; her children Johnnie Mae Pace, Lorenzo Pace, and infant

twins, Angela and Tangela.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted children, Gearlene
Green, Carrie Hester (Willie), Jeanette Johnson (Donald), Jessie Lena Terry
(Willie), Calvin Daniels Sr., Michelle Williams, Donald Pace (Karen), Etha Jones,
Betty Davis, Charles Daniels (Debra), Janet Watkins (Sony), Sandra Stewart
(Marion) and Deotha Holloway; aunt Ida Mae Daniels and uncle Oliver Barber
(Nellie); grandchildren, Dionysius Alexander (Frank), James Terry, William
Hester, Deborah McKithen (Tony Sr.), Consuela Green, Michael Johnson (Mitsie),
Mary Jones (Edward), Phillip Pace (Anitra), Calvin Daniels Jr., Neville Brown, and
Chenell Brown; Sister-in-law, Ella Pace; 40 great grandchildren and 23 great-
great grandchildren; special cousins, McKenzie and Agnes Chatman; special friend
Elizabeth Brown and a host of family and friends.
