The late Jessie James Johnson was born to Johnny and Audrey Johnson on February 15, 1956 in Pahokee, Florida.
Jessie was educated in the public schools of Palm Beach County where he graduated from Pahokee High School with the Class of 1975.
In 1976 he joined the Sensational Royal Lights where he was the lead singer, Jessie had a passion and love for singing out of this world. He also met the love of his life Mary Francis Smith in 1976. Jessie married Mary in 1977 to this union 3 children was born.
Jessie was a member of Pahokee Deliverance Christian Center under the pastoralship of Pastor Willie Hickman. He was a member of the Gospel Song Birds for over twenty years.
Jessie leaves to mourn his (1) son: Willie Tyrone Johnson of Kansas City, KS; (2) daughters: Angel Johnson of Tampa, FL, Shavon Johnson of Boston, MS; (7) grandchildren: Ikerria Love, Shamiya Robinson, Lamerria Robinson, Mi'angle Robinson, Cameron Johnson, Tahlia Johnson, Tyler Johnson; (1) niece he raised: Cynthia Buckley of West Palm Beach, FL; (3) sisters: Annie Lee Johnson, Willie Mae Johnson, Johnnie M. Morrison (Rueben); (1) brother: Ulysees Johnson (Martha); (2) brother-in-laws: Darrell Smith, Larry Smith; (5) sister-in-laws: Karol Robertson (LC), Rochell Johnson, Buelah Godwin, Willie Young, Cynthia Smith, Meriss Smith and a host of niece, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
