James Leggett was born January 23, 1956, to the late Steve Leggett and Mittie Felton in South Bay, Florida.

James dedicated 44 years of employment to Benny Richmond Construction. He was a member of Leviticus Temple of Praise Church under the leadership of Pastor Felicia K. Hines in South Bay, Florida

James Leggett departed his life on April 11, 2024, at the age of 68 in Lake Worth, Florida at JFK Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Steven Leggett, Marvin Leggett, Bernice Spencer, and a very special niece Jessia Rene Gibbons.

James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty Leggett; sons: Le'Juan Gibbons of Long Beach, CA, James Leggett (Claris), Kevin Leggett, Steven Leggett (Keliyah) all of Belle Glade, FL; two grandchildren: Mayakla Kelly, Malik Kelly of Grand Rapids, MI; on sister: Brenda Leggett (Oath) of Grand Rapids, MI; two sisters-in-law: Angelica Leggett of Grand Rapids, MI, Barbara Ann Felton of South Bay, FL; one brother-in-law: James Gibbons of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three nieces: Shantia Gibbons, Lawanda Gibbons, Sheila Judon all of Grand Rapids, MI; twelve nephews: Calvin Spencer, Napoleon Spencer (Georgia), Leonard Trice Leggett, Rodney Phillips, Fredrick Leggett, James Leggett, Willie Sawyer, Sammie Leggett Jr., Montez Wedgeworth Brown; a very special friend: Mark Orsenigo; god children that he loved very much: Sania Deleord, A'ysia Intervol, KayKay Intervol, My nana Intervol, Daniel Louis, Deo Louis and a host of other relatives and friends.

James also leaves his furry friend his dog "Lady" who he loved dearly and took everywhere with him.
