James Brent Hunter was born March 23, 1955, in Clewiston, Florida to Eugene Hunter Sr and Opienell Hunter.

James affectionately known as "Gator" by family and friends was educated in the Hendry County School District. In 2018 he relocated and made Dothan, Alabama his home until his demise.

On June 16, 2022, James Brent Hunter entered eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Tommie Lee Hunter, Freddie Lee Hunter, Jerry Lee Hunter, Sheila Williams, Eugene Hunter Jr., Charles Nathaniel Hunter.

James is survived by his daughter Regina Hunter; 2 granddaughters: Jazzgwondolyn Hunter, and Dyonna Stafford; 1 grandson: Joshuel Stafford; Siblings: Willie Lee Hunter, Barbara Ann Hunter, Clarence Hunter, Michael Hunter, Marcia Hunter Gilkes, David Lewis Hunter, Cathy Hunter, Johnny Lee Hunter; James will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
