James Marcel Bent, affectionately known as 'Red' was born on May 24, 1976 to the late Australia Smith. James was raised in Belle Glade, Florida and received his formal education in the Palm Beach County School District. He was a "master" painter by trade on both residential and commercial properties and worked in the construction industry for many years.

James was preceded in death by his loving mother; Australia Smith, brother; Joe McDonald Jr.; Grandmother; Charlene Dotson, Grandfather; Wayne Johnson.

James was full of love, joy and laughter. He was so much fun to be around and he brought the party everywhere he went. James loved his family so much and he made sure everyone knew it. This characteristic is what made James stand out among others. He never ended a call or left your presence without saying "I Love You". His famous quote was "Family 4 Lyfe!!!".

On Thursday, October 5th, 2023, James departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest with his heavenly father.

James was dearly loved and cherished by his family and all those that knew him. He was a devoted father and leaves to cherish his memories 2 children: James'Quan Marcel Bent and his little princess, Haleigh Bent; 3 siblings: Leonard Bent, Eurande Young, Sammy Young Jr; special companion, Shalonda Williams; 9 Aunts: Audrey Tillman (Rick), Terrie L. Cooper, Sylvia Cineus, Lavoice Johnson, Violet (Carl) Burey, Joyce McKelton, Stephanie Snead, Alberta Bryant, Cathy Holloway and 2 Uncles: Darris Ricketts and Wayne Johnson Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
