John 14 verses 1-3  "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

On August 8, 1950, Gwendolyn T. Napier entered this world in the town of Monticello, Florida. She was the eldest child of Deansie Tucker Williams and Arthur Miller. As the eldest of nine children, Gwendolyn often told stories of the mischief that she and her younger siblings got into, especially the second and third oldest, Nettie and Clarence. She attended and graduated from Howard Academy High School in Monticello. She then went on to Allen University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. It was at Allen that she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. She followed her college friend to Belle Glade, Florida. This is where she met Percy Napier, her husband of 48 years. This is also where she became a charter member of the illustrious Iota Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. chartered June 18, 1979.

She worked as the Director for childcare centers in Lake Harbor, FL, and later in Fremd Village (Pahokee, FL). Gwendolyn continued to work with members of the Glades and greater Palm Beach County communities. Whether it was at the local health center or supporting families through Victim Services, she consistently took on roles to help those in need and advocate for those without a voice. Her passion for helping her community led her to earn a Master of Social Work from Barry University in 2002.

Even though she was dedicated to the community, her proudest accomplishments were her children to whom she instilled with a passion for education, service, love for family, and for God. She also could throw a mean shoe, which explains why her children never got into trouble. In her later years, she continued to instill those values in her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Percy Napier Sr., siblings, Nettie Linton, Lucille Williams, Edith Williams, Sharon Richardson, Clarence Williams, and Mack Williams. Her children are Debra Bryant, Dionne T. Napier, Shawnte Napier, PharmD., Percy Napier, Jr., PhD and wife Valarie, and son/grandson, Warren Adderley Jr. Grandchildren are Parhys L. Napier, Timothy Burden, Michael Jones, Darion Jones, Jasmine Collins, Jasper Walker, Larnard Holmes, Nathan Napier, and Amara Napier.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Deansie Williams, brothers Charles Williams and Dess Williams, and daughter, Diane Haskell.  She is also survived by special cousin Viola Sampson and a host of family and friends.
