Obituary

Mrs. Gennie Hayes was born on February 14, 1947 to the late Mr. Ulysses C. Perkins and Ms. Dorothy Lewis in Dawson, Georgia. Gennie and her family later relocated to Florida in the early 1960's.

Gennie resided in South Bay, Fl until 1987 at which time she relocated to West Memphis, Ark where she answered the Master's Call and slept away peacefully at her residence on May 14, 2024.

During the early 1960's Gennie was introduced to Mr. George Hayes and a love connection was made that led to a union that produced 5 beautiful children. Throughout the years Gennie worked as a farm laborer and domestic housekeepingto provide for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was also a sweet, gentle, quiet woman who loved the Lord and devoted her life to Christ in 1972.

Gennie was preceded in death by her husband: George Hayes Sr.; mother: Dorothy Lewis; father: Ulysses Perkins; daughter: Barbara Craig; sisters: Gloria Oliver and Dorothy Lee Brown and brother: Jimmie Perkins. Her laughter, sweet sounding angelic voice brought joy to all she encountered she will be deeply missed but forever loved by her family, friends and all who knew her.


Her Legacy

Gennie leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories that will be forever cherished in the hearts and lives of her Daughters: Sharell Winters (Alton), Angela McKinnon (Leandre) and Gloria Hayes; One and only Son: Fred Hayes (Shante); Step-daughter: Georgetta Little; Sister-in-law: Joanne Perkins; Brother-in-laws: Herman Brown and Frederick Small (Autherine); Special sister: Deloris Brown. A host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
