Elousie Wiggins' Obituary
On September 3, 1940 in Barnswell, South Carolina, Elousie Wiggins was born to the late Winnie Mae and Preston Pike Washington. As she matriculated through her childhood, the Washington family migrated to Belle Glade, Florida. She was raised and grew up in Belle Glade. She conceived her first boy Phillip McRoy (Patricia) (deceased)
As she matured she met a man by the name of James Wiggins Sr. (deceased). They knew this was a special love and were joined together in holy matrimony in 1956. To this union they conceived two children, James Wiggins Jr. (deceased) and Sarah Wiggins. In 1961 the two decided to go separate ways.
In 1969 she and her 3 children moved to Okeechobee, Florida. In this city is where she discovered her Christian walk and joined the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under leadership of Reverend Wilson. In 1980 Elousie was baptized along with her two children Sarah and James Jr. She was a devoted member of the choir and church until her health began to decline under the current pastoralship of Bishop Maurice Alexander.
On January 29, 2017 at 6:36 pm the Lord reached down from heaven and plucked his rose from the garden. She is preceded in death by her parents, Winnie Mae and Preston Pike Washington; two sons: Phillip McRoy and James Wiggins Jr.; her husband: James Wiggins Sr.; four brothers: Willie Walker, William Henry, Preston Washington and Ossie Washington;
Elousie leaves to mourn her only living child, Sarah M. Wiggins (Okeechobee, FL), her only two living siblings: Marie Washington (Okeechobee, FL), Jessie M. (Bobby) Clyburn; a special niece: Dasma (Charles) Smith; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; six godchildren: James Cooper Jr. Bob Mixon, Martin, Delvin Lewis, Mya Lewis, Scottina McQueen and a host of other relatives and friends.
