Obituary

Edwin Henry Tucker was born on March 28, 1931 to the late Wilfred Tucker and Floretta Morrison in Harmons, Manchester, Jamaica.  There were four siblings three of whom preceded him in death, Alice, Cadella and Leslie.  He attended Harmons Primary All Age School.  After leaving school he moved to Toll Gate, Clarendon where he found employment at the Logan Farm.  He later left there and went to work at the St. Jago Agricultural Estate. There he met the owner Dr. Herbert Miller who became his mentor.  The Estate was later renamed Tophill Farm, and Papa was promoted to Agricultural Supervisor.  After many years at Tophill Farm, Papa applied for and was successful for acceptance to the overseas Farm Working Program with the Okeelanta Corporation where he worked for over thirty years until retirement.  While working in Toll Gate he met the love of his life Nora Lord and fell in love and got married.  The Union produced 12 children, 3 of whom preceded them in death.  Later he brought his wife and children to the United States of America, where Belle Glade, Florida became their permanent home.

To his church life both in Toll Gate and Belle Glade, as member he did his best for the Lord.  He enjoyed singing hymns, watching baseball, basketball, wrestling, football and working his garden.

He is survived by his children; Edith Tucker of Belle Glade, FL: Winniefred Tucker of Royal Palm Beach, FL:  Edna Ismay of Miami, FL:  Norma Bell (Louis) of Port Orange, FL:  Richard Tucker (Andrea) of West Palm Beach, FL:  Mitsy Campbell of West Palm Beach, FL:  Moses Tucker (Deidra) of Atlanta, GA: Michelle Dowdy (Terry) of Fayetteville, NC and Step-daughter Georgiana Thompson of Kissimmee, FL; 25 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and host of loving nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was one of the kindest people you could have ever met.  He was gracious and opened his home to many over the years. May his soul Rest in Peace and light perpetual shine on him.
