A Life of Kindness ~ A Legacy of Love
Edward Leopold Cushnie (Eddie) was born on October 7, 1932, in Golden
River, St. Catherine, Jamaica. As the fourth of six children to George and
Adassa Cushnie, he was a devoted father, grandfather, family member and
friend. Edward became present with the Lord on June 21, 2024, leaving
behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom and love, and he was cherished by his
family and friends.
Eddie married the love of his life, Keren Waugh, on August 18, 1963, and
he was a faithful husband and father who nurtured his children with values
of kindness, compassion, and a faith rooted in God's word. His "little
family" was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in raising his
children Karl (Cleve), Yvonne (Ann) and his brother-in-law Oral (Howie).
One of Eddie's greatest joys was his grandchildren, Turner Edward
Jackson and Collin Cushnie Jackson. In addition to his "little family",

Eddie will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-
in-law, brothers-in-law, godchildren, neighbors and friends who loved

him and whom he loved.
Prior to migrating to the USA, Eddie was a master of many skills. He was
a consummate photographer who captured many memorable moments of
family and friends. He was also a skilled carpenter and mason whose
drafting skills and craftmanship as a builder is imprinted on churches,
schools and homes in Jamaica.
In 1973, Eddie migrated to Belle Glade, Florida. He fostered a spirit of
friendship, neighborliness and love to those who had the privilege of
knowing him. Eddie was a proud member of the First Church of God in
South Bay, Florida for 51 years. He also served faithfully as Deacon, Choir
Member, and Master of Ceremony for many special occasions. Eddie was
always ready when it came to the service of the Lord.
Eddie worked as a landscaper and enjoyed gardening and seeing the fruits
of his labor. Singing his favorite hymns and evoking laughter in others
brought joy to his heart. Eddie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed
putting smiles on faces with his quick-witted humor, which was
accompanied by a little wiggle in his steps and his head rocking from side
to side. He believed that we should all put a little sweetness in our lives.
His conversations were guided by his convictions and his faith in God, and
when you left his presence, you left with an uplifted spirit and conviction
to know God. Eddie was a lively blessing to this world and will forever hold
a special place in our hearts as we recall his favorite signature sayings, "I
am Eddie, Steady and Always Ready!" and "Thank God for what it is!"
