Dorothy Jean Humber Jones better known as "Dot" was born on December 8, 1946 to the late Mr. Ellie and Mrs. Ida Mae Humber in Pahokee, Florida. She departed this earthly life on June 13, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Oscar Jones, son: Atticus Jones, brother: Atticus Humber; 2 sister-in-laws: Lucy and Eula Bell; 2 brother-in-laws: Marvin and Ernest and a long time companion and significant other, Johnny Bradham whom she loved dearly.
Growing up, Dot attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Pahokee, Florida and her faith remained strong until her death.
Dot attended and graduated from East Lake High School in 1966. She works many long hard years in the Sod Field to provide for her family…and it didn't go unnoticed.
Eventually Dot enrolled in college to further her education in Washington, D.C. as a Certified Medical Assistant. Later she was employed Palm Terrace Rehabilitation in Clewiston, Florida for 21 years until she retired.
One of the most beautiful things that stood our about her is she was a very devoted, caring, supportive and loving mother who sacrificed so much and went above and beyond for her children. Her final request for them, was to honor her by continuing to love and take care of one another in her absence.
The highpoint of her life was getting together on holidays, cooking large feasts and enjoying it with her closest family and friends. She always wore a smile on her face, she was mild tempered, but could be very outspoken when necessary (saying what she mean and meaning what she said). Everyone knew that about her, to know her was to love her.
She was our rock and the glue that held our family together and her children felt extremely blessed to call her Mom. Her sense of humber kept a smile on everyone's face.
Dot gave so much to her children and expected little in return. She gave her family a lifetime of memories that they can treasure forever.
She will be forever missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind to mourn 6 children: Willie Humber (Renota), Lawonna Jones (Nick), Tarsha Jones (Willie), Johnnie Mae Bradham, Steven Stimpson (Belinda), Kimberly Bradham; 5 sisters: Barbara Jones, Ann Lee Strong (Joseph), Ira Humber (Willie), Mary Evans, ReBobbie Humber; 7 sister-in-laws: Joyce, Emma, Dorothy, Virginia, Sara, Donnie Bell, Betty Sue; 1 brother-in-law: Fredrick; a close friend: Rose Marie Busie; 4 godchildren: Christopher Keys, Amanda Smith, Dudley Gary, Erika Hearns; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
