Obituary

Dorothea Lynette Booth was born on March 20th, 1957 in Belle Glade, FL to the late Johnny Frank Coleman and Minnie Booth.

Dorothea was educated in the public schools of Palm Beach County and graduated from Lake Shore High School in 1975. Dorothea furthered her education at Palm Beach Community College from 1975 to 1977 where she earned an AA degree. She then transferred to the University of South FL from 1977 to 1979 where she received a Bachelors of Arts degree and became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

Following graduation from USF, Dorothea moved to Powder Springs, GA. She continued her pursuit of higher education at Georgia State University, there she earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in 2007. While attending Georgia State University, Dorothea met the love of her life, Lawrence Harrod. On December 10th, 1983 Dorothea and Lawerence united in Holy Matrimony. Through their union, two daughters Claire and Chelsea Harrod were born.

Dorothea was a dedicated employee at Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity, maintaining employment for 46 years.

She was also a faithful member of Atlanta Bible Baptist Church where she served as Youth Sunday school teacher and choir director under the leadership of Pastor John McNeil since 1982 and until her calling. On December 31st, 2021, God summoned His precious jewel to suffer no more.

Dorothea leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories to be cherished by her husband; Lawrence Harrod, daughters: Claire and Chelsea Harrod mother: Minnie Sistrunk; sisters: Debra Booth, Agnes Coleman Gaskins, Leona Bennett, and Wilma Sistrunk (predeceased); brother: Kenneth L. Sistrunk; aunts: Verdina Coleman, Mary B. Wilson, and Gussie Booth; uncles: Johnnie Booth, Charlie Booth, and Eddie L. Coleman; father-in-law Lynwood Harrod Sr (predeceased); mother-in-law: Yvonne Bell; sister-in-law: Valerie McLaughlin; brother-in-laws: Linwood Harrod Jr and Milton Harrod and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
