Life's evening sun is sinking low.
A few more days and I must go.
To meet the deeds that I have done.
Where there will be no setting sun.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon on April 26th 1953 a new day was dawned into the lives of Zona Bailey and Alvin McLean in Porus Manchester, Jamaica; as they became proud parents of a bouncing baby boy Donald Anthony McLean.
At the age of six Donald was enrolled in Porus Elementary school where he received his formal education. After graduating from Elementary school, he then moved on to work on the farm with his father. He then developed an interest in cultivating of crops; and from such depth of passion and experience he became an expert in this area.
During his young adult life, he was selected and accepted into the United States of America Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme in Florida where he traveled and work for many years before he retired. Those who had known him personally knew he was quite a mouthpiece with a powerful voice that differentiate him from others. Donald possessed an attitude of gratitude along with other characteristics for which he will be remembered and deeply missed.
On August 27th life took another turn when Donald's health began to deteriorate rapidly. He was admitted into the Lake Side Hospital Florida with excruciating pain rocking his body. During this time his friends and family members were very supportive. Donald was a warrior and he fought to hold on to life, but he just could not maintain it because his time on earth was about to end.
In the cool of the night Sunday August 28th 2022, he peacefully succumbed to his ailments. Donald is not here with us anymore and we are awfully saddened by his passing, but the journey doesn't ends here, death is just another pathway that we all must take. Donald has left a legacy of love and integrity with his family and friends and all those who knew him.
Leave to cherish his fond memories are special friend Juliet, a brother from another mother Kenty, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, Grand nieces, Grand nephews, uncles, aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.
Like sands through the hourglass so are the days of our lives. May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him.
