Obituary

On November 5, 1938, in Bremen, GA, a baby boy was born to Mary Lou and David Monroe Sr; they named their son David Monroe Jr. David and his family later moved to Florida and settled in the City of Belle Glade. David attended the public schools in the area and later
found employment in the Glades area. David built a career in transporting fruits and vegetables to different states, before becoming an independent driver and investing in his own trucking company.

As a young man, David was active in his community. He coached a girls' softball team in the housing projects (Okeechobee Center) and enjoyed many church activities. He became a member of The Alpha and Omega Church in his youth and was later appointed as the director of the church's youth choir. Besides this involvement, David was best known for his dedicated faith, for driving the church's bus to different faith-based events and fieldtrips, and for his
singing and organ playing that opened fellowship. David later became a minister of The Christ Church of Universal Love, where he continued to celebrate his faith and community.

David transitioned on November 11, 2023. His late wife, Alice Monroe, and third son, Arthur Lee Monroe, preceded him in death.

David leaves behind his children, Linda Monroe, Pricilla (Timothy) Monroe-Milton, Gregory (Shannon) Monroe, David Monroe III and Winford Lee (Ouida/Deceased) Monroe. He also leaves his sisters, Ethel (Eroly) Barnes and Clovie Monroe; brothers, Eddie Monroe, Johnny Monroe, Freddie Monroe, and Leroy (Annie) Monroe; sisters-in-law, Louise Jones, Mordine Avery, Betty McClendon and Jennie Slaughter; and brother-in-law, William (Phillis) Clark.
David also leaves behind his grandchildren, Edward Johnson Jr., Lee Shiva Washington, Dietrich Monroe, Gregory Monroe, La'Sondra (James) Howard, La'Tura Campbell, Arkevin Monroe, Arthur Monroe Jr., Nina Monroe, Javarris (Kadean) Monroe, Al'Licia Pittman, Timothy Milton Jr., Winford Monroe Jr. (Deceased), and a host of devoted great-grandchildren, family, and beloved friends.
