Obituary

Daniel Emanuel Francis, lovingly known as "Reid," was born on May 24, 1938, in Trinity Ville, St. Thomas, Jamaica, to the late Urseline Francis and William Francis. He was the youngest of six children, all of whom have preceded him in death—three sisters and two brothers.

Daniel received his early education at Trinity Ville All-Age School. After graduating, he continued his training at the Police Training School, where he became a police officer and proudly served the island of Jamaica for many years.

In the late 1960s, Daniel migrated to the United States as a farm worker, joining U.S. Sugar Corporation. Through dedication and hard work, he was promoted to Camp Supervisor. In 1982, he was relocated to Okeelanta Sugar Corporation, continuing in leadership as Camp Supervisor until the Farm Worker Program ended. Daniel then transitioned into the role of Field Research Worker, where he faithfully served for an additional twenty-one years before retiring.

Even after retirement, Daniel remained active and continued working in security with U.S. Sugar until illness required his permanent retirement.

During his later years, Daniel became a devoted member of Glades Covenant Community Church in South Bay, under the leadership of Presiding Pastor Kenneth Jackson. He dedicated his life to service, giving of his time and talents as a Boy Scout Leader, Usher, and in many other capacities within the church community.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Gwendolyn Francis; his twelve children—eight sons and four daughters; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
