Daisy Hyacinth Dunkley Francis was born in Clarendon, Jamaica on November 8, 1935 to the late Joseph and Iona King.

Daisy received her formal education at Elgin Primary School after which she embarked on her career as a seamstress and retailer.

She met and later married George Dunkley, and this union produced six children.  Later, George emigrated to the United States to work as a migrant farm laborer in the sugarcane industry.  In 1971, Daisy emigrated to Pahokee, Florida to join her husband, who, sadly, was killed in a tragic automobile accident in 1973, leaving her to raise their six children as a single parent.  She was a firm, but loving mother who instilled into her children Christian values, respect for self and others and a strong work ethic.

Later, Daisy met and married Nathan Francis who also preceded her in death.

For over 28 years, Daisy worked at the United States Sugar Corporation as a maintenance worker and took extreme pride in her work.  She was a loving and devoted individual.  She enjoyed a good conversation, a good laugh and found pleasure in making others smile.  She simply enjoyed the company of others.  Daisy also had a zest for fashion and enjoyed wearing custom-made hats to church.

Daisy accepted Christ into her life at a very early age.  She attended Elgin Baptist Church in Clarendon, Jamaica and later Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Pahokee, Florida. Daisy was an active and devoted member who sang in the choir and participated in various other church activities.

One son, Noel, preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Pauline (Junior), Imogene (Linton), Owen (Marcia), Wayne (Sylvia), Hugh (Livina) and one stepson, Charles (Retha); three sisters: Hilda Coleman and Evelyn Henry of England and Angela Blake-Francis of Jamaica; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and beloved godchildren in the United States, England and Jamaica.
