Obituary

Clyde Edward Butts, Jr., affectionally know as "Baby Boy", was the first child born to Lynette and Clyde Butts, Sr on November 19, 1978 at Everglades Memorial Hospital in Pahokee, Florida.  His journey as a "Warrior" started as a baby when he was diagnosed to have Sickle Cell.  Despite his illness, he was well known and was loved by everyone who knew him.  He grew up to be a young man who was unafraid to give his opinions about any situation:  good, bad or in-different.  Once his mind was made up, 'that was it'…and you couldn't change it.  The hospitals became his constant place of refuge. And for that reason, He did not travel too far away from his home in South Bay because he knew that his illness could flare up at any time.   His young life was spent as a patient in Glades General Hospital, Palm West Hospital and Wellington Hospital before becoming a regular patient at Jackson Memorial in Miami.  Hospitals would be his home for a few days until his sickle cell crisis was over.   He was a person who really wanted to work, but could not…that was evident when he lived in Tallahassee with his cousins and accepted a job at a fast food restaurant.  That lasted about three months before he had to be hospitalized and laid in a coma for a week before he would return home in South Bay.

He was educated in the Palm Beach County School System.  In 1984 he matriculated from Rosenwald Elementary School to attend Lake Shore Middle School and from there he attended Glades Central High School.  During his senior year at Glades Central, he became very ill and was home schooled for a while.  As his health improved he enrolled in West Technical Vocational School where he earned a certification in Cosmetology and set up his shop at home to "cut hair".

"Baby Boy" attended Miracle by Faith Revival Church in South Bay under the leadership of Bishop Berry Humphrey.  He would occasionally attend Pahokee Church God with his Mom.

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018 after 39 years and 9 months of battling with the Sickle Cell disease, Baby Boy "the Warrior" fought his last fight at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.

Baby Boy loved his food and his family.  He leaves to cherish his loving memories.
