Carrie C.
Priester
Dec 28, 1917 — Aug 31, 2024
South Bay
Many of you are saying, "WOW! She was 106 years old. She lived a long time!
Yes, I did. Let me take you back in time.
My story begins on December 28, 1917, in a town called Tallahassee, Florida. My parents, Mary and Issac Nero, were blessed with their seventh oldest child, Carrie Catherine. I came from a large family. My parents had 22 children. We moved to Colquitt, Georgia where I was raised and attended school.
In 1931, when I turned 14 years of age, I moved to South Bay, Florida. Where I lived with my brother-in-law. I stayed in South Bay for 59 years.
In 1940, I was united in marriage to John Henry Priester. I was in love with him. We had seven children: Eddie, Lavelle, Jimmie Williams, Willie, Charles, Carolyn and Julia.
In 1955, I met Charlie Winters. We had 2 children Issac and Alton.
Those who preceded me are Eddie Priester, Lavelle Priester, Carolyn (Willie) Lindsey, and Jimmie Williams. Yet, the life I lived, was a strong example of longevity.
In 1990, at the age of 59, I retired from work. Let me brief you on my work history. During my employment years, I worked for some reputable and well-known agricultural companies: A Duda and Sons Farms, Pioneer Growers Packing House, Billy Rogers Packing House, Wilkerson and Cooper Packing House, and Sunshine Sod Company.
Then, I moved to Okeechobee Center in Belle Glade, Florida. I resided there for 3 years.
In 1993, I downsized my residency into an assisted living facility, Glades Diamond Apartments, which was later renamed Silver Tree Apartments.
In 2023-2024, I sat and looked back over my years on earth. Buffy, you were there from the beginning to the end. You made sure that I was well taken care of. I was a blessed and grateful grandmother to have a loving and caring granddaughter to take care of me. Dry your tears and celebrate with me "106" years.
Presently, I have lived among 5 generations. To cherish my legacy and memories are children: Charles Priester (Hawthorne, FL), Julia Mackey (West Palm Beach, FL), Willie Priester (Riviera Beach, FL.) Issac (Carolyn) Winters (Leesburg, FL), Alton (Sharell) Winters, (South Bay, FL); over 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great- great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Also, a special caregiver and extended family, Gwendolyn Funderburke, took care of me until my demise. "Thank You." Additionally, Kemarly Roper as her favorite grandson-in-law.
On August 30, 2024, I lifted my wings and soared to my heavenly home, where I will have Eternal Rest. Farewell
