Carlyle Altamont Nelson Sr. was born December 25, 1937 to Wilmot Nelson and Evelyn Hamilton in St. Mary, Jamaica.
Carlyle known to family and friends as "Brown" migrated to the US in 1962 working as a farm worker in New York and later Florida. In 1974 he met the late Mary (Cat) Tate and to this union one son, Carlyle A. Nelson Jr. was born.
Brown was a very respectful, humble and caring individual that would help anyone in need.
On Saturday, September 16, 2017, he transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal resting place. He was preceded death by both parents, his sibling, Eulalee Morgan, Velma Burrows, Lynetta Frances, Carmicheal Nelson, Steven Nelson; 2 daughters, Catherine Tate and Jacqueline Tate.
He is survived by his children: Carlyle A. Nelson Jr., Thelma (Lamarcus) Maddox, Valerie Maddox, Lorenzo (Teresa) Tate, Beverly Tate, Stacey Y. Grinnell, and Cornell Brown; (4) sisters: Mrs. Viola Gibson, Jamaica, Mrs. Winifred Sinclair, Bronx, NY, Mrs. Dorette Thomas, Jamaica, Mrs. Sylvia Heholt, Jamaica; special nieces and nephews: Dr. Keith Laws, Angela (Sam) Vassel, Devon (Annette) Morgan, Carl Morgan and Andrew (Nadine) Morgan and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives back in Jamaica and England.
