Bonita M. Moore

The Legacy

A Time to Be Born
This scripture definitely describes a woman of virtue, Ms. Bonita T. Moore, affectionately known as 'Ms. B,' was born on March 31, 1937, to the late Sinnie Riley. She matriculated through Palm Beach County Schools and graduated from Everglades Vocational High School in 1957. She also took numerous courses at Palm Beach Community College.

A Time to Love
Bonita was first united in marriage to Samuel Gooden. Later in life, she found love again and was joined in holy matrimony to Ike Moore. A devoted mother, Bonita was blessed with six children. Bridgette, Jaye, Kaye, Karen, Marsha, and Martha were the pride and joy of her life. She nurtured her family with unwavering love, strength, and wisdom—instilling in them the same values of faith, resilience, and compassion that guided her own life.

Her Life's Work
Bonita found her passion working untiringly to help others in her family, church, and the community. She dedicated 23 years to the Palm Beach County School System as a teacher's aide, secretarial clerk, financial aid officer (West Technical Institute), and community liaison for Title I; she was also employed by Planned Parenthood as a community organizer for over 10 years.

In addition, she served worked with ARC of the Glades. Bonita later worked at Pioneer Park as a Foster Grandparent with the Palm Beach County School Board continuing her lifelong mission to uplift and care for others.

A Time to Serve
Ms. Moore always knew there was an even greater calling to servanthood—using her hands to reach out to her church and her community. She served under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Leon Camel for many years until his passing and continued her faithful service under the capable leadership of Rev. Lionel F. Camel at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in the Raiderville community of Belle Glade.

At Mt. Calvary, she served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher and Mission Teacher and was a dedicated member of the Usher Ministry. As Director of the Culinary Department, she shared her gifts of hospitality and service with love and excellence.

Her passion for Christian education extended into the Greater South Florida District Baptist Association, where she taught adult classes and led the Adult Women's Class. She traveled frequently with the youth of Mt. Calvary to participate in the Education Congress and other ministry events. Her commitment to teaching also reached the district, state, and national levels of the Baptist Convention, where she served as a beacon of wisdom and faith for many.

A Time to Embrace Legacy

When Bonita transitioned to her heavenly home she was proceeded in death by her mother, Sinnie Riley (Robert Riley); daughter, Bridgette Haynes; granddaughter, Jessica Haynes Stewart (Andre); god-sisters, Ollie Fuller and Suzie Fuller.

Fond memories of Bonita T. Moore will be cherished by her loved ones; son, Edward "Jaye" Sharpe (Sharnez); daughters, Hilda "Kaye" Wiggins (Anthony), Karen Lawson (Zarak), Marsha Moore and Martha Moore; grandchildren, Leticia Clark, Altavious Hill, Kayla Lawson, Zarak Lawson Jr., (Ambernique), Albany Lawson, Jhalin Humphries, and Trista Frasch; great-grandchildren, Reginald Vickers Jr., MaLayiah Haynes, Jace Wellington, Alahni Hill, Mihonest Humphries, and Marlaysha Humphries; sister, Tameka Riley; aunt, Annie Littles; nieces, Labri Mitchell and Tracey McKelton (Joseph); nephew, Reginald Miller; cousin, Vernell Tisdale, Rudean Butts and the Sharpe Family; god-sister, Ethel Fields; god-daughters, Colentha D. Wilson, Judy Rieves, and Lawanna Byrd; god-son, William Clark; special friends, Inez Dowdell, Geraldine Bennett, Emma Williams, and Myrtis Williams, as well as a host of other family and friends near and far that will cherish memory.
