The story of Alvin Smith's life journey began on June 16, 1930 in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. He was the first born to his parents with a total of 11 siblings to follow.

Alvin was the beloved patriarch of his family. He was a man of few words except when it really counted. And when he did, every word had meaning. He was strong enough to handle all hurdles, letting away all of his pain with a smile. He accepted little and gave selflessly. Alvin was an upright man who knew and exemplified that when a person lives for a strong purpose, then hard work isn't an option, it's a necessity. He was employed at A. Duda & Sons, Inc. in Belle Glade, FL where he later retired after decades of service without missing a single day off work. He commonly recalled the memories of operating the forklift he drove.

The Bible teaches, "Husbands, love your wives" (Ephesians 5:25) and "teach the young women … to love their husbands" (Titus 2:4). Love in marriage can be deeper and more selfless than in any other relationship. It is this type of love that Jesus expects of His followers, and it is the virtue that couples need the most and that Alvin and his devoted wife exemplified for over five decades. On May 14, 1971 Alvin joined in holy matrimony with the love of his life; Mrs. Johnnie R. Smith. Together they set the tone and lived as examples of true love that inspired generations.

On July 20, 2022, God summoned his Angel to earth to escort Alvin to his Heavenly home. The Angel whispered in Alvin's ear, "come with me and take my hand. I will take you to the promised land where there will be no more pain, sadness, sickness or despair". Alvin Smith heard the Angel's voice and gently took its hand; he closed his eyes and left it all to take his place in his Heavenly home.

Throughout Alvin's life and until the day God summoned him home, one thing remained true - he was truly loved.  Everyone loved his humble personality, spoken parables and his infectious smile.  He was always willing and ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.  Alvin loved his family; his love and dedication to his family made it easy for them to love him too.  He was loved unconditionally.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Joycelyn Smith; and granddaughter: Mickisha Smith.

Alvin leaves sprinkles of love and treasured memories with his beloved wife: Mrs. Johnnie R. Smith; sons: Michael (Vickie) Smith and Keith L. Smith Sr.; siblings: Nathaniel Gilbert, Victoria Smith, Herman (Stacy) Smith, Mary (Garth) Ferguson, Joseph Smith, Cephus (Shornette) Smith, Linda Armbrister, Jane Smith, Willam Smith and Sandra (Kenson) Gilles. Alvin is also survived by his grandchildren: Kanysha (Keavin) Ingram, Tequesta Moore, Levenski Nelson Sr., Keith L. Smith Jr., Demetria Burke, Miteria Smith, Mikela (Roland) Armstrong, Michaela Smith, Travetta Smith, Michael A. Smith Jr., Tyler Smith, Markevious Smith, Kiersten Gilmore; honorary grandchildren: Nikita Young and Jeremy Tucker; great-grandchildren: Tytiana Lester, Levenski Nelson Jr., Kenan  Smith, Jada Burke, Jordan Tucker, Demi Josinvil, Kailand Armstrong, Madison Smith, Alayah Dowdell, Taylor Wrisper, Kennedi Armstrong, Jason Vassell Jr., Kingston Ingram, Maariah Smith, Kali Wrisper, Kharlie Armstrong, Melanie Smith; honorary great-grandchildren Nikia White, Caeden White and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
