Allen P.
Oakley
Nov 29, 1955 — Dec 12, 2024
South Bay
Allen Pursaville Oakley was born on November 29, 1955, in Clewiston, Florida, to the late Allen Oakley Sr. and Veola Caldwell Oakley.
Allen dedicated his life to providing a loving home for foster children, whom he loved as his own. He ultimately adopted one child, John Oakley, into his family. Additionally, he played a significant role in raising children of close family friends, treating them with the same love and care as his own. These individuals include Bruce Fashaw, George "Tim" Myrick, and Samuel Brown.
Allen graduated from Glades Central Community High School in Belle Glade, Florida, in 1975 earning his high school diploma. Known as a "Man of God," he was ordained as a minister and led the congregation at Mount Zion Christian Center Church, Inc., in Belle Glade, Florida, until its closure. Allen was a hardworking and brilliant man, often referred to as a "jack of all trades" for his ability to excel at anything he pursued. For over a decade, he was the proud owner of a successful automotive mechanic business in the heart of the Glades community. His dedication to learning and personal growth was evident in the numerous certifications he earned throughout his life, including those as an Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Roadside Assistance Agent, and Childcare Director of Glades Early Childhood Center, which he led with passion and commitment until his passing.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Oakley Sr. and Veola Caldwell Oakley; his sister, Norma Jean Caldwell; his brother-in-law, Urias Brackin; his nieces, Jacqueline Spear Louis and Chadlis Kae Caldwell; and his nephews, Colin Ricketts Jr., Gary Caldwell, and Asa Caldwell.
