Alexander Lorenzo Quartermaine, born December 24, 1956, as Ernest Owens, was a twin (Bernice) to John Henry McCants and Nancy Owens. As a child, he became a member of the Glorious Community Holiness Church of Jesus of Apostolic Faith. Alexander went on to become a community leader among the youth by teaching Bible school and hosting Saturday evening youth meetings at the church. He became known as "Minister Owens."
After graduating from Glades Central Community High School, he relocated to Miami, FL, before returning home to Belle Glade in 2022.
He leaves behind wonderful memories with his sisters Gwendolyn West, Gaynell (Eaton Sr.) Spence, and Mertice McCants, as well as his brother Anthony Sr. (Marguerite) Owens. He is also survived by five nieces: Latasha Kemp, Shante Kemp, Joquanda Thomas, Shinenette Redding, and Alicia Myrick, and thirteen nephews: Wallace (Meline) Kemp, Derrick (Kristen) Kemp, Earnest Kemp, Antoine Owens, Tavaris (Melody) McDonald, Leonard Jr., Marcus Sr. (Shamekia) West, Jontavius West, Eaton Jr. Spence, Kevon Spence, Anthony Jr. Owens, Kyren Owens, and Jarvis Redding. A special cousin, Kenneth Fowler Sr., and neighbors William Jones, James and Courtney Sims, Lavern, and Willie also remember him fondly, along with a host of sorrowing family, friends, and Godchildren.
