Alexander "Dee" McCauley
His Life, His Story, His Legacy

We are here today to celebrate the life and honor the memory of our dear father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend.

Alexander McCauley was born on February 5, 1943 in Montgomery, North Carolina to the late Ben and Lucy Caper McCauley.

Alexander relocated to Bean City, Florida in 1961, where he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Green. In 1966, Alexander and Shirley united in Holy Matrimony. To that union, they had a beautiful daughter, LaTangela.

Alexander was employed at U.S. Sugar Corporation for 40 years until he retired in 2001.

Alexander was affectionately known to his daughter as Dee. To his family and friends, he will always be known as Alex, Uncle Alex, Dee Dee, Slick, and Bruh. Alexander was not a talkative person in crowds but always entertained everybody that entered his gates. His front porch was the meeting place. He will always be remembered by driving through town and going to Winn- Dixie with his best friend Bud in the front seat and Jacob in the back seat. Alexander was a member of Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church in South Bay, Florida under the leadership of Dr. C.E. Reese.

On June 17, 2024, around 10:20 a.m., he made his transition to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Alexander was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Ann McCauley, six sisters: Geraldine and Wanna Mae Horne, Jessie Mae Marshall, Mae Catherine Bennett, Betty Jean Young, and Maxie B. Marshall; three brothers: James A. McCauley, Marcel McCauley, and Ben McCauley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his only daughter: LaTangela McCauley-Lewis (Clarence) of South Bay, FL; one Godson: Boris Seymore (Que) of West Palm Beach, FL; six grandchildren: Clarence Lewis, III of South Bay, FL, and Shirkera Lewis of Tallahassee, FL, Mya and Kirsten Seymore, Kyla Pratt and Emani Beal of West Palm Beach, FL; seven great-grands: I'Yoni Lewis, Clarence Lewis, IV, and C'Riyah Lewis of South Bay, FL, Jaiden Alexander Lewis and Leiah Lewis of Pahokee, FL; two sisters: Mamie Latty (Trevor) of Pahokee, Florida, and Inez McCauley of Troy, North Carolina; five sisters-in-law: Janet Graham of South Bay, FL, Ida Henry (John) of Jacksonville, FL, Josephine Hartley (Fitzroy) of South Bay, FL, Patricia McBride (John) of Okeechobee, FL, Sophia Jernigan (Reginald) of Port St. Lucie, FL; two brothers-in-law: Charles Green (Flora) of Miami, FL, and Terry Hammond of Clewiston, FL; two dogs: Bud and Bella, a special niece: Sandra Kennedy, special friends: Jacob and Pop Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
